Arrest requests for 17 people detained on May 1st

Seventeen people who were detained while attempting to celebrate May 1st Labor and Solidarity Day in Taksim have been referred to the court with a request for their arrest. The prosecutor's office requested that 52 others be released under judicial control.

Arrest requests for 17 people detained on May 1st

An official briefing was provided at noon regarding those detained in Istanbul on May 1st Labor and Solidarity Day.

According to information provided by Istanbul Police Department officials, a total of 416 people were detained yesterday on charges of violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.

Of those whose statements were taken at the Istanbul Police Department's Vatan, Gayrettepe, and other units, 372 were released based on their files. 8 people were sent to the Counter-Terrorism Branch Directorate.

The prosecution proceedings for 69 people referred to the courthouse on charges of violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations were concluded in the evening hours.

According to information obtained from prosecution officials, 17 people, including 4 from the May 1st Organizing Committee, were referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for their arrest.

The prosecutor's office requested that judicial control measures be applied to 52 people.
