Arrest requests for 9 suspects: New development in the Gayrettepe fire tragedy

A new development has occurred regarding the fire that broke out during renovations at the Masquerade Club, a nightclub located on the lower floors of a 16-story building in Gayrettepe, Istanbul, on April 2, which resulted in the deaths of 29 workers.

Arrest requests for 9 suspects: New development in the Gayrettepe fire tragedy

In Gayrettepe, on Yıldız Posta Street, Gönenoğlu Street, the processing of 11 suspects detained as part of the investigation into the fire at the Masquerade nightclub, which operated on the minus 1 and minus 2 floors of a 16-story building, has been completed at the Beşiktaş District Police Department's Public Security Bureau.

2 PEOPLE RELEASED

Following health checks, the suspects were sent to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Of the 11 suspects, 9 were referred for arrest on charges of "causing the death of more than one person by negligence." Two suspects were released.

INVESTIGATION PROCEDURES TO BE INITIATED

On the other hand, all information and documents regarding the licensing, work permits, operating principles, and inspections of the workplace during the process are being collected, and it has been learned that investigation procedures will be initiated against the relevant public officials and municipal employees in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 4483.

FURNITURE MAKER HAD BEEN RELEASED

In the fire that broke out during renovations at the nightclub on April 2, 29 workers lost their lives and 2 people were injured.

Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the workplace manager I.Ş. (65), workplace partners M.M.C. (45), Ş.Ş. (50), and F.D., accountant S.A. (39), operations manager A.A.P. (26), metal works supervisor for the renovation K.E. (47), metal works company owner Ç.A. (43), and furniture maker E.E. (40) were detained, and E.E. was released after police procedures.

As part of the efforts, the workplace technical service supervisor I.B., stage construction company owner D.Ç., who has a criminal record, and stage construction technical service company owner S.Ç. were also detained.
