Case of arrested Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney merged with IMM file
The indictment prepared against Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney, who was removed from office and arrested on charges of 'fraud' and 'aiding a criminal organization,' seeking up to 35 years in prison, has been merged with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) file.
The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney and 6 others for the crimes of 'fraud' and 'aiding a criminal organization' has been merged with the IMM file.
From the indictment
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Deniz Göleli, İnan Güney, İsmail Akkaya, Mehmet Akif Bulut, Sabriye Akkaya, Seyhan Özcan, and Veysel Eren Güven were listed as 'suspects'.
The prepared indictment stated that İnan Güney was a partner in practice, if not officially, in a company where Serkan Ö. and Rauf Cem I. were the authorized representatives; that he secured irregular tenders and direct business for this company; that he carried out these works through Kağan S., a member of a criminal organization, under the instructions of Ekrem İmamoğlu during his tenure as General Manager of BELTAŞ and Mayor of Beyoğlu; and that İnan Güney and Serkan Ö., the official of the company he was an unofficial partner in, were close university classmates.
The indictment, which stated that many companies and individuals operating in outdoor advertising media were aware that suspect İnan Güney was an unofficial partner of the company in question, noted that Güney spent the illicit gains he obtained on Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is alleged to be the leader of the criminal organization, and on his own illegal political ambitions.
The prepared indictment requested that Deniz Göleli, İnan Güney, İsmail Akkaya, Mehmet Akif Bulut, Sabriye Akkaya, Seyhan Özcan, and Veysel Eren Güven each be sentenced to a total of 14 to 35 years in prison for the crimes of 'fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations' and 'aiding an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes without being a member'.
It had been requested that the indictment be merged with the case concerning Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and arrested.
