As convention debates continue in the CHP, a statement also comes from Böcek: 'Our support and trust'

While the reaction from CHP Chairman Özel following the convention call by CHP MP Salıcı continues to be discussed, a post regarding the debate has also come from Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek.

Istanbul MP Oğuz Kaan Salıcı had criticized Özel's recent policies in posts he made on social media on November 8, stating, "If necessary, we will go to a convention."

Immediately after this move, Özgür Özel, speaking in response to journalists' questions in Izmir on Saturday, November 9, had called for an end to intra-party debates.

Stating, "There is nothing more meaningless than the CHP engaging in inward-looking debates while people are suffering from such economic hardship, poverty, and unemployment," Özel spoke as follows:

"When we turn inward, we lose and we cause others to lose. We will do our job and look ahead. From now on, no one in the CHP will trade barbs with each other. If someone is still talking, leave it to the conscience of the party. No one should respond to anyone. Let's focus on our work."

Following this reaction from Özel, Salıcı used the words 'no one is a sultan' and ignited the 'convention debate' within the CHP. While Party Spokesperson Yücel reacted harshly to these statements by Salıcı, two names within the party, Izmir MP Mahir Polat and CHP İzmir MP Sevda Erdan Kılıç, targeted Deniz Yücel with their own statements.

A STATEMENT ALSO CAME FROM MUHİTTİN BÖCEK

Although soothing statements continue to be made by prominent party figures regarding this ongoing tension, some MPs within the party continue to show their reactions. While some names are making calls for a convention to be held, others are declaring their support for CHP Chairman Özel.

The latest post on this subject came from CHP Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek. Sharing a photo taken with Özel, Böcek used the following expressions:

"Our support and trust in our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, are as full today as they were on the first day.

In this period when our country is going through difficult days in every field, for us, today is a day of unity; a day to stand shoulder to shoulder and work for the benefit of the country.

Our path is the path of leading the entire country to bright tomorrows together with our Chairman.

During our meeting in Ankara today, I had the opportunity to express our determination on this issue to our Chairman once again. I thank him for his hospitality."
