Assassination of Iranian cleric in Istanbul!

In an incident that occurred yesterday evening in the İslambey neighborhood of Istanbul's Arnavutköy district, Iranian cleric Mesud Nazari was subjected to an armed attack. Nazari, who was returning home after evening prayers, was shot with a handgun by an unidentified individual.

According to the information obtained, Nazari was critically wounded at the scene after being struck by three bullets in the neck and chest during the attack. Despite all interventions by medical teams, the cleric could not be saved after being rushed to the hospital.

ALLEGED TO HAVE RECEIVED THREATS FROM IRANIAN SECURITY FORCES

According to statements from Nazari's close circle, the Iranian cleric had been receiving threats from Iranian security forces for some time. His family suggested that Iranian intelligence agencies might be behind the attack. HAD BEEN LIVING IN TURKEY SINCE 2015

It was learned that Mesud Nazari, who came to Turkey in 2015, had been living in Istanbul for approximately 10 years and had not requested any protection during his time in Turkey. It was also reported that Nazari had served 20 months in prison in Iran.

Following the attack, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch and the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
