Assigned to Bingöl: It turns out Miss Turkey İdil Bilgen is in America

İdil Bilgen, a recent graduate of Koç University Faculty of Medicine who was crowned Miss Turkey 2024, was assigned to the Yayladere Community Health Center in the Yayladere district of Bingöl, which has a population of 2,304, as part of the Ministry of Health's 118th term Mandatory State Service (DHY) draw.

Bilgen, who was assigned to Yayladere on September 9 and was required to apply to the Provincial Health Directorate within 15 days to begin her duties, has missed the application deadline. It was learned that Bilgen did not make any application during this period and that she can submit an excuse petition to the Provincial Health Directorate within two months to be able to start her duty.

It was reported that if she does not submit an excuse petition within the specified period, she will be able to apply for the next Mandatory State Service draw, which is held every 6 months.

While the reason why Bilgen has not started her duty continues to be a subject of curiosity, it has emerged that Bilgen is in Washington D.C., the capital of the United States.

Bilgen announced that she is attending the ASTRO 2024 meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) in a post on her social media account.

Bilgen, who graduated from Koç University Faculty of Medicine, had previously said, "I also have research on cancer. I already want to specialize in cancer. Therefore, I applied because I thought I could successfully represent myself and my country on this platform, which is actually a very prestigious platform abroad."

Regarding her participation in the Miss Turkey pageant, Bilgen had previously made the following statements:

"Frankly, I had my physician title before I was chosen as Miss Turkey. I participated here still as a physician, and this is definitely my first title. I will carry this with pride throughout my life and my profession. I think the title of Miss Turkey is also a very meaningful and very important title. I am very proud to carry it. I think combining the two is not a problem at all; on the contrary, I think it is a very beautiful whole." 

WHO IS İDİL BİLGEN?

İdil Bilgen is 24 years old, 1.80 cm tall, and a graduate of Koç University Faculty of Medicine. She won the title of Turkey's most beautiful girl by coming in first in the Miss Turkey 2024 pageant held on September 11, 2024.
