Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel suspended from office
Incarcerated Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel has been suspended from his duties.
As operations targeting CHP-run municipalities continue, a detention order had been issued for Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel.
The Ministry of Interior announced that Adıgüzel has been suspended from office.
The statement issued is as follows:
"Ataşehir Mayor Onursal ADIGÜZEL has been suspended from office as a temporary measure by the Ministry of Interior, in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, following his arrest by the Istanbul Anatolian 4th Criminal Court of Peace on 22.04.2026, under inquiry number 2026/381, as part of an ongoing investigation into the crimes of 'Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes and Accepting Bribes'."
