Atasever makes statements following space flight

A press conference was held after the "VSS Unity" suborbital vehicle, which Atasever was on board, landed at the Spaceport facility in New Mexico.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Ahmet Yozgatlıgil and Axiom Space Chief Astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria also attended the meeting.

Pointing out that he had a very intense journey, Atasever said, "The first shock was the separation. We were only there for a few short seconds, but it felt like it lasted longer. The power in that spacecraft immediately after the rocket motor ignited was probably the most impressive aspect of the flight. Of course, floating in microgravity is also very fun and at the same time very relaxing."

Stating that the experience he had could not be expressed with adjectives, Atasever explained that he could define it as looking at Earth and seeing the planet from an experimental perspective.

Pointing out that the experimental part of the flight was successful, Atasever said, "I was able to successfully perform all the necessary operations related to the three payloads I carried in my custom-made flight suit. The scientific aspect of the mission was a great success, and I am very excited about it."

Stating that the data obtained in the suborbital flight will be analyzed, Atasever announced that they will develop a microgravity research roadmap for Turkey within the next few years that will add value to people's lives both in the country and globally.

Mentioning that he also took with him the Turkish flag gifted to him by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the flag of Azerbaijan, his mother's homeland, Atasever said, "They were standing side by side with the keffiyeh, which is important for the Palestinian people who are currently in a very painful situation."

Pointing out that the phrase "Two states, one nation" is used for Turkey and Azerbaijan, Atasever explained that the flags of the two countries stood side by side to reflect this.

Atasever stated that he also took the watch gifted to him by President Erdoğan and many personal items from his family and friends.

Explaining that he performed this mission for future generations as well, Atasever noted the following:

"Of course, research was an integral part of this mission, but the main goal was to encourage the next generation to dream bigger and bolder dreams.

That is why what I will tell them is, decide to choose truly bold dreams for yourself and then work diligently and strategically to turn them into achievable goals.

I would be more than happy to do my best to help them realize their dreams."
