Atatürk's library opened for digital access
The archive of 4 thousand books that Atatürk read, which also includes his own notes, has been opened for access for the first time.
Despite spending his life on the front lines and in war, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stands out as a leader who read thousands of books in every field during his 57-year life. The Anıtkabir Association made the list of books read by Atatürk permanent in 2001 by publishing it through a comprehensive study. This impressive list has now been opened for digital access so that everyone can reach it.
In the published 24-volume series, it is possible to see the list of books Atatürk read, some excerpts from the publications, the lines Atatürk underlined, and the notes he left on the pages.
The number of books read by Atatürk identified to date is a total of 3 thousand 997, with 1 thousand 741 in Çankaya, 2 thousand 151 in Anıtkabir, 102 in the Istanbul University Library, and three in the Samsun Gazi Provincial Public Library. The number of volumes, magazines, maps, atlases, and sheet music albums have been excluded from this data.
