Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir reported that the grave of 15-year-old Ahmet Mattia Minguzzi, who lost his life in a knife attack in Kadıköy, Istanbul, has been vandalized. As the murder trial, which has captured Turkey's attention, is set to be heard today, it has been learned that the family is receiving death threats.
The first hearing of the trial regarding the murder of 15-year-old Ahmet Mattia Minguzzi , who lost his life after being subjected to a knife attack in Kadıköy, Istanbul, will be held today (April 10) at the Istanbul Anatolian 2nd Juvenile High Criminal Court.
Before the hearing, an attack was carried out on Minguzzi's grave this morning.
In a statement regarding the matter on his social media account, the family's lawyer, Rezan Epözdemir, said, “There was an attack on the grave of our clients' only child, Ahmet Minguzzi, this morning. I have spoken with police officers. They are conducting the necessary investigations at the cemetery. The family has been receiving death threats for about two months. We are currently on our way to the hearing.” he said.

Announcing that the Minguzzi family is being threatened, Lawyer Epözdemir stated, “We are aware of the message intended to be sent to our clients and to us with this act carried out while we were heading to the hearing. We have spoken with both the Honorable Presiding Judge and the Honorable Chief Public Prosecutors of Anatolia and Bakırköy regarding the necessary security measures to be taken for today.” he said.

Reporting that the family is heading to the courthouse under police escort, Epözdemir noted the following:

We have received the message; we are not afraid of these lowlifes and immoral people. Our struggle will continue to the end; let no one worry, we are not anxious. INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
An investigation has been launched by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident of the grave being vandalized.
In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the incident is being evaluated within the scope of the crime of "Damaging Cemeteries" regulated in Article 153/1 of the Turkish Penal Code, and that an ex officio investigation is being conducted in accordance with Article 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code No. 5271.
The statement emphasized that the investigation is being carried out meticulously in order to reveal the material truth in all its aspects.
