Attack on national boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli in Trabzon: Road rage driver arrested
In Trabzon, Olympic, world, and European champion national boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli was slapped by a driver named Sedat Karatay, who cut her off and exited his truck during a 'right-of-way' dispute in heavy traffic. The suspect, who was taken into custody by police, has been arrested on charges of 'intentional injury' and 'insult'.
Yesterday at around 22:30, Sedat Karatay, the driver of a truck with license plate 61 KS 409 heading toward Giresun on the State Coastal Road in the Ganita area of Trabzon's İskenderpaşa neighborhood, attempted to overtake the car driven by Olympic, world, and European champion national boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli, as traffic was moving slowly due to water accumulation from heavy rainfall.
Karatay cut in front of Sürmeneli's car due to a 'right-of-way' dispute. Karatay, who got out of his stopped vehicle, allegedly slapped Busenaz Sürmeneli. The suspect, who is also accused of swearing at the national boxer, fled the scene in his vehicle. The suspect, who was apprehended by police teams shortly after the report and was found to have a criminal record, was arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace to which he was referred after his interrogation in custody, on charges of 'intentional injury' and 'insult'.
