Attention Istanbul residents: Restrictions imposed on public transport for May 1!

The Istanbul Governor's Office has announced that restrictions have been imposed on public transport for May 1.

The statement from the Governor's Office is as follows:

May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day will be celebrated in our city with various events.

In order to ensure that May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day can be celebrated in a "festive" atmosphere and to prevent behaviors that could negatively affect the peace, security, and well-being of our city, necessary measures have been taken by our Governor's Office.

In this context;

Restriction applications on roads to be closed to road traffic will begin at 04:00,

Restriction applications on sea and rail system transport networks will begin as of 05:30.

TRANSPORT NETWORKS TO BE CLOSED TO TRANSPORTATION

The closure of the M2 Yenikapı – Seyrantepe - Hacıosman metro line stations of Vezneciler, Haliç, Taksim Square, Şişhane, Osmanbey, Mecidiyeköy, and Gayrettepe Zincirlikuyu metro (including all entry and exit points),

The suspension of services on the Kabataş-Taksim Square Funicular line,

The suspension of Nostalgia Tram services on Istiklal Street,

As of 05:30 on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, keeping Galata and Unkapanı bridge officials ready at their duty stations,

Notifying the Istanbul Police Department Coordination Branch Directorate of the clear identity and contact information of the on-duty personnel,

- Emptying its parking lots around Taksim, Şişhane, Kabataş, Mecidiyeköy, Şişli, Saraçhane, Beşiktaş Square, and Dolmabahçe and not allowing vehicle parking,

Additionally; not allowing vehicle parking on all streets and avenues in Beyoğlu, Beşiktaş, Şişli, and Fatih Districts on routes leading to Taksim Square and its immediate vicinity one night before,

- Keeping a sufficient number of fire trucks and water tankers ready at designated points together with their personnel,

- To the Road Maintenance Directorate;

- Keeping the specified number of construction machinery and trucks ready at designated points,

- Police Department;

Assigning enough Police teams to clear Beyoğlu, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Fatih, and Kadıköy districts of street vendors on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, and informing the on-duty personnel,

- Provincial Health Directorate; as of 05:30 on Wednesday, May 1, 2024

Assigning a sufficient number of ambulances with health personnel (Doctor and Nurse) at designated places throughout the city,

Keeping hospitals throughout the province, especially those in Mecidiyeköy, Şişli, Taksim, Fatih, Kadıköy, and the immediate vicinity, ready with sufficient health personnel,

Additionally, assigning sufficient health teams to serve if needed at the Istanbul Police Department Vatan and Gayrettepe Service Buildings.
