Attention Istanbul residents: These roads are closed to traffic! Here are the alternative routes...
Due to the 46th Istanbul Marathon taking place today, some roads in Istanbul will be closed to traffic. Here are the closed roads and alternative routes.
In a statement issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office, the roads that will be closed due to the 46th Istanbul Marathon and the alternative routes were specified.
The 15 July Martyrs Bridge will remain closed to two-way traffic until 14.00. Other points on the race route, including Barbaros Boulevard, Kabataş, Galata Bridge, Sirkeci Coastal Road, Eurasia Tunnel, Hagia Sophia Square, and all roads connected to these, will be opened to vehicle traffic at 15.30. During the race, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Yavuz Sultan Selim bridges can be used as alternatives to the 15 July Martyrs Bridge.
The statement noted that the roads to be closed as of 03.00 are: “1- South Zincirlikuyu Junction, 2- North Uzunçayır Ramp Closure Point, 3- North Ünalan Ataşehir Sabiha Gökçen Junctions Closure Point, 4- Gayrettepe in front of Melas Hotel D-100 South Entry, 5- Barbaros Boulevard Zincirlikuyu D-100 South Entry, 6- Above Sait Çiftçi Variant D-100 South Entry, 7- Barbaros Boulevard Sait Çiftçi D-100 South Entry, 8- Kısıklı Street D-100 North Entry via Altunizade Bridge, 9- Mahiriz Street D-100 North Road Entry via Altunizade Bridge, 10- Entry to 15 July Martyrs Bridge North from Beylerbeyi Abdullahağa Street, 11- Tophanelioğlu Street D-100 North Entry, Tunnel Entrance, 12- Entry from West Ataşehir Kızıl Begonya Street towards North Ring Road Rıdvan Dedeoğlu Viaduct.”
It was stated that the alternative routes are: “1- Traffic coming from the South O-1 Highway to the 15 July Martyrs Bridge will be completely cut off and directed to the Büyükdere-Balmumcu/Levent Sarıyer Junction. 2- Traffic will be directed to the Çamlıca Connection Road from the Sabiha Gökçen Junctions. 3- Traffic coming from the Çamlıca Tolls will be directed towards the Ünalan Ataşehir Çamlıca direction. 4- Mandatory direction will be given towards Yıldız Posta and Esentepe. 5- Mandatory direction will be given towards Beşiktaş. 6- Traffic coming from Fulya will be given a mandatory direction towards Sarıyer. 7- Mandatory direction will be given towards Sarıyer.”
The roads to be closed at 06.00 were recorded as: “1- Rauf Orbay Street North-South directions and all roads leading to this street, 2- Kennedy Street North-South directions and all roads leading to this street, 3- Ankara Street and all roads leading to this street, 4- Alayköşkü Street and all roads leading to this street, 5- Alemdar Street and all roads leading to this street, 6- Divanyolu Street and all roads leading to this street, 7- Ragıp Gümüşpala Street (will be closed to two-way traffic) and all roads leading to this street, 8- Reşadiye Street (Sirkeci Coastal Road) and all roads leading to this street, 9- Galata Bridge (will be closed to two-way traffic) and all roads leading to it, 10- Eurasia Tunnel will be closed in both directions and all roads leading to it, 11- Havuzlu Junction Underpass and all roads leading to it, 12- Sultanahmet Atmeydanı Street and all roads leading to this street.”
The alternative routes were stated as: “1- Atatürk Boulevard, 2- Balat Coastal Road, 3- Unkapanı Bridge, 4- Fevzipaşa Street, 5- Vatan Street, 6- Millet Street, 7- New Airport Street, 8- Old Airport Street, 9- Ekrem Kurt Boulevard.”
Other roads to be closed as of 06.00 were announced as: “1- Barbaros Boulevard Zincirlikuyu D-100 North Entry - In front of Tat Towers (Mandatory direction to E-5 North will be provided.), 2- Metrobus Stops Balmumcu Tunnel Entrance (Balmumcu direction), 3- Balmumcu Junction, 4- Central Command Lights, 5- Yıldız Lights, 6- In front of Sabancı High School, 7- Akdoğan Street Entrance, 8- Ressam Hamdibey Street, 9- Bostancı Veli Street, 10- Serencebey Lights, 11- Abbasağa Street, 12- Ortaköy Turns, 13- Hasfırın Street, 14- Beşiktaş Square, 15- Çiğdem Street in front of Beşiktaş Pier, 16- Kadırgalar Street Altbaş Lights, 17- Dolmabahçe Gazhane Street, 18- Mete Junction Bedri Karafakihoğlu Street, 19- Beginning of İnönü Street in front of AKM, 20- In front of MKE on İnönü Street, 21- Dolmabahçe Lights, 22- Kabataş Lights, 23- İnebolu Street (from Setüstü), 24- Beginning of Akyol Street, 25- Beginning of Mebusan Yokuşu Street, 26- Fındıklı Lights, 27- Port Exit, 28- Salı Pazarı Lights, 29- Boğazkesen Street towards Defterdar Yokuşu, 30- Boğazkesen Lights, 31- Tophane Lights, 32- Kılıç Ali Paşa Street Exit, 33- From Revani Street, 34- Kemeraltı Lights, 35- Karaköy Square, 36- Perşembe Pazarı Lights, 37- Entry to Perşembe Pazarı from Refik Saydam Street, 38- Entry to Perşembe Pazarı from Atatürk Bridge, 39- Entry to Bankalar Street from Şişhane Square, 40- Çırağan Street, 41- Tershane Street, 42- Meclis-i Mebusan Street, 43- Dolmabahçe Street, 44- Kemeraltı Street, 45- Necatibey Street, 46- Descent direction from Barbaros Boulevard Central Command Lights will be closed to traffic, 47- Barbaros Boulevard between Beşiktaş Square and Yıldız Lights will be closed to traffic, 48- Ortaköy Square towards Beşiktaş direction, 49- Dereboyu Street Muvakkit Street Entrance, 50- Palangalar Lights towards Beşiktaş Square direction.”
The alternative routes were stated as: “1- Those coming from the Sarıyer direction will be directed to the Zincirlikuyu D-100 North direction. 2- Traffic coming to the Balmumcu Junction closure point will be directed to the Sarıyer direction. 3- Traffic coming from the Sarıyer direction will be directed from the Central Command Lights back to the opposite direction towards Balmumcu or Palangalar Street. 4- Traffic coming from the Ortaköy direction to Beşiktaş Square will be directed following the Old Yıldız Street to the Barbaros Boulevard Sarıyer direction. 5- Traffic coming from the Bomonti Tunnel direction to Dolmabahçe will be directed behind İstaç towards the Taksim Maçka direction. 6- Traffic coming to the Gazhane Street behind the Stadium will be directed behind Süzer Plaza to Asker Ocağı Street. 7- Traffic coming from the Mete Junction will not be sent to the Bedri Karafakihoğlu Street direction but will be directed to the Divan Junction. 8- Traffic coming from İnönü Street will be directed from in front of MKE back to the Taksim Square direction. 9- Traffic coming from Akyol Street will not be sent to Mebusan Yokuşu but will be directed to the Bol Ahenk Street direction or back into Akyol Street. 10- Traffic coming from Boğazkesen Street will not be sent to the Tophane direction but will be directed to Defterdar Yokuşu. 11- Traffic coming from the Atatürk Bridge will not be sent to Tershane Street but will be directed to Tarlabaşı Boulevard. 12- Traffic coming from the Tarlabaşı Boulevard Taksim direction will not be sent to Tershane Street but will be directed to the Unkapanı Bridge direction. 13- Traffic will not be sent from the Şişhane Junction to Bankalar Street but will be directed to the Okçu Musa Street direction. 14- Traffic coming from Portakal Yokuşu and Dereboyu Street will be directed to the Muallim Naci Street - Kuruçeşme direction. 15- Traffic coming from the Palangalar Street direction will be directed to the Ortaköy Square direction. 16- Traffic coming from Muvakkit Street will be directed to the Ortaköy Square direction.”
Other roads to be closed as of 06.00 were stated as: “1- Kısıklı Street D-100 South Road Entry via Altunizade Bridge, 2- Kuşbakışı Street D-100 Highway South Entry in front of Petrol-İş, 3- Şile Road between Libadiye Junction and Kısıklı Street will be closed to traffic, 4- Eurasia Tunnel D-100 North Road Entrances, 5- Traffic will not be allowed in both directions towards the Beylerbeyi direction starting from the Gümüşyolu Street Baba Nakkaş Street intersection. 6- Traffic will not be allowed in both directions towards the 15 July Martyrs Bridge direction starting from the Yalıboyu Street Beylerbeyi Çamlıca Street intersection. 7- Traffic will not be allowed in both directions towards the Beylerbeyi direction from in front of the Coastal Safety General Directorate at the Abdullahağa Street Kuzguncuk Street intersection. 8- Tophanelioğlu Street Ring Road direction, 9- Beylerbeyi Lights, 10- Sinan Street in front of K Blocks entry point to Çamlıca connection, 11- Sinan Street in front of Ziraat Bank entry to Çamlıca connection, 12- In front of Çengelköy Shell Gas Station (Traffic will be allowed towards the Güzeltepe Street direction).”
The alternative routes were stated as: “1. Nuhkuyusu Street, 2. Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, 3. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.”
