Audio recording detail in the meeting with the terrorist leader! What happened in İmralı, will the minutes be shared?

It has been stated that the members of the commission established in Parliament for the second opening process, dubbed "Terror-Free Turkey"—AKP's Hüseyin Yayman, DEM Party's Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, and MHP's Feti Yıldız—did not take a photograph with the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan during their meeting on İmralı Island; however, they did record audio of the meeting.

According to a report by Ceren Bayar from T24, the commission members reached the island by helicopter and recorded the meeting for the purpose of "creating minutes" throughout the session, which lasted approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes. No state officials or MİT personnel were present on behalf of the state. Only the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, and the three members of parliament were at the table.

No definitive decision has been made yet regarding how the audio recording will be transcribed into minutes or whether it will be shared with the public. It was reported that during the meeting, Öcalan stated that he stood by his February 27 call and made assessments expressing determination regarding the process.

The date for the 19th commission meeting, where the contact in İmralı will be discussed, has not yet been set. It is not yet clear whether the session of the commission, which is expected to meet by next week at the latest, will be held in private or in public. Furthermore, the commission will decide in what format the meeting minutes will be presented to the other members. Whether the entirety of the minutes or only a summary will be shared will be decided at this meeting.

The commission members are of the opinion that holding the meeting openly to the press and sharing the content of the meeting with the public would contribute to the process. At the same time, they support the presentation of the minutes to the public in the name of transparency.
