August 17 message from İmamoğlu
Issuing a message on the anniversary of the August 17, 1999 Marmara Earthquake, imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu drew attention to the importance of national-level preparedness.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently imprisoned in Silivri Prison, shared a message to commemorate those who lost their lives in the August 17 earthquake.
The statement, published via the official social media account of İmamoğlu's Presidential Candidate Office, included the following remarks:
"I remember with mercy our citizens who lost their lives in the August 17, 1999 Marmara Earthquake. We are an earthquake country; we must accept this reality. We can secure our future through a national mobilization and strong preparation."
