İmamoğlu said, "The August 17, 1999 earthquake should have been a turning point, but unfortunately, it was not. We have launched a strong transformation support program in Istanbul. As the IMM, we cover up to 65 percent of the costs for the risky structures of low-income families. Lives Are Not Collapsing, Istanbul Is Renewing."

Yavaş stated, "25 years have passed since the August 17, 1999 Gölcük Earthquake. While our pain still burns in our hearts, the losses we suffered in subsequent earthquakes have unfortunately shown us with our own lives that we were not sufficiently prepared. We remember those we lost with mercy and are working to ensure we do not experience such pain again."
