August 30 military band concerts cancelled
The Ministry of National Defense has announced that military band concerts scheduled for Victory Day will not be held due to the loss of life off the coast of Kyrenia.
The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) has announced that the military band concerts planned as part of the August 30 Victory Day and Turkish Armed Forces Day celebrations have been cancelled due to the loss of life resulting from the sinking of a passenger ship carrying Turkish Cypriots off the coast of Kyrenia.
In a statement from the Ministry, condolences were extended to those who lost their lives in the capsizing of the passenger ship, and wishes for a speedy recovery were conveyed to the injured.
The MSB stated that, in line with the decision taken to share in the grief of the Turkish Cypriot people, the concerts planned to be held by the Air Force Band Command in Ankara and the Southern Sea Area Band Command in Muğla will not take place.
The statement further noted that the concerts planned by the Joint Band formed by the Naval and Air Force Band Commands and the Harmony Band Command in Ankara, as well as the Mehteran Unit Command, have also been cancelled.
