Austerity shelved at event attended by Emine Erdoğan: Lamb stew on the menu

Despite the 'Public Austerity Measures' announced by Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek and Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, programs and events continue.

According to a report by Kayhan Ayhan from BirGün, the menu at a dinner organized by the Ministry of Health at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital for Nurses and Midwives Day, which was also attended by Emine Erdoğan, wife of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, featured lamb stew. Pistachio baklava was served for dessert.

Various gifts were also given to participants during the dinner program.

HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICE WORKERS UNION PRESIDENT CRITICIZES

Stating that there are citizens who cannot afford meat at home due to increasing economic problems, Health and Social Service Workers Union (SES) Co-President Mehmet Sıddık Akın said, "Instead of organizing dinners for us, they should solve our food problems at the hospital. 

Meals that are never enough for a balanced and adequate diet, unhygienic food, and news about health workers, inpatients, and their companions being poisoned by food are frequently on the agenda. 

Most recently, 71 health workers were poisoned at Esenyurt State Hospital, and we brought this to the agenda. Because we brought this to the agenda, they did not allow us to distribute our May 1st leaflets in the cafeteria," he said.
