Author Ergün Poyraz arrested following complaint by Özlem Çerçioğlu
Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu filed a criminal complaint through her lawyers against author Ergün Poyraz, alleging that he published photos of her home on social media and made insulting posts.
Acting on this complaint, police teams detained Poyraz at his home in Çakırbeyli on charges of "unlawfully obtaining and disseminating personal data."
DETAINED IN THE MORNING HOURS
At the time of his detention, Poyraz posted on social media, "They have just detained me from my home.
I am being taken to the police station. And they are not even telling me why they are detaining me."
Following the completion of his procedures at the police station, Ergün Poyraz was referred to the courthouse, where he was arrested by the duty Magistrate Judge and sent to prison.
