Author Orhan Pamuk files complaint over illegal construction
Author Orhan Pamuk has submitted a petition to the Beyoğlu Municipality Zoning Directorate and the Istanbul No. 2 Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Property regarding illegal construction in Beyoğlu. In his petition, Pamuk requested that the construction be sealed and its permit revoked.
Author Orhan Pamuk has been revealed to be taking action against a construction project in Beyoğlu that he claims is "illegal."
According to a report by Birgün, Orhan Pamuk submitted a petition to the Beyoğlu Municipality Zoning Directorate through his lawyer on January 24, 2024.
In the petition, he stated that "the construction in the Kılıçali neighborhood is in violation of zoning regulations, planning notes, and Law No. 2863."
Pamuk requested that the irregularities he listed in his petition be inspected by Beyoğlu Municipality teams and that, as a result of the identified violations, the construction be sealed and its permit revoked.
In addition, Pamuk also submitted a petition regarding the same construction to the Istanbul No. 2 Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Property.
The Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Property stated that "the construction will be inspected urgently."
