An avalanche has occurred in a village in the Genç district of Bingöl. Search and rescue operations are ongoing for one citizen believed to be trapped under the snow.
According to the information received, an avalanche occurred in the area of Yenisu village in the Genç district yesterday evening. When the family of a citizen, who was reportedly heading to his home in the area, could not reach him, they notified the gendarmerie teams.
The teams noticed footprints in the area where the avalanche occurred. Following the incident, gendarmerie, AFAD, SAR Search and Rescue, and security guards were dispatched to the region.
Search and rescue operations, which began in the evening, continued into the early hours of the morning. Following the avalanche disaster, Bingöl Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta stated that 30 AFAD personnel, 8 non-governmental organization search and rescue members, 7 SAR Search and Rescue members, 28 gendarmerie personnel, and 25 security guards are conducting search and rescue operations in the area. Governor Usta noted that the efforts are continuing at full speed.
