Ayşe Ateş makes first statement regarding hospital footage

Footage has emerged showing lawyer Serdar Öktem, who was arrested and subsequently released as part of the investigation into the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Sinan Ateş in Ankara, at the same hospital as Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım.

According to the records, Öktem was taken to Etlik City Hospital on July 4, 2023. Approximately three hours later, Yıldırım arrived at the same hospital and went to the area where Öktem was located. The footage also includes moments where the prison guard who took Öktem to the hospital is seen speaking with Yıldırım in the hospital courtyard.

Lawyers for the Ateş family have added this hospital footage to their appeal against the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's decision of non-prosecution regarding Yıldırım and 21 other individuals. The lawyers announced that they would file a criminal complaint against the officials, alleging that the meeting was pre-planned.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM AYŞE ATEŞ

Making a statement following the emergence of the footage, Sinan Ateş's wife, Ayşe Ateş, used the words, "Serdar Öktem is the key figure in this political assassination and the person whose testimony is feared most."

In a post on the social media platform X, Ayşe Ateş stated that Öktem had suffered memory loss when he was taken into custody and had experienced a heart spasm after his arrest. Pointing out that Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım was also "coincidentally" there when Öktem was taken to the hospital, Ayşe Ateş claimed that the ongoing judicial process was aimed at exonerating Öktem.

Furthermore, emphasizing that the information on Öktem's phone has remained inaccessible for two years, Ayşe Ateş reiterated her call for justice, stating, "An infiltrated criminal organization has trampled on the law and is pressing down from above so that justice does not rise. The day will surely come, and justice will rise to the heavens on the shoulders of good people. We have full faith in this."
