Ayşe Ateş reacts to release decision: 'Forget about being a man, these people aren't even human'

A new development has occurred in the trial regarding the assassination of former Ülkü Ocakları President and Hacettepe University academic Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan Ateş. Police Commissioner Mustafa Ensar Aykal, who was serving as the Murder Bureau Chief at the time of the incident and was being held in custody, has been released by the court under judicial control conditions.

Aykal's file, who was being tried on allegations of providing Sinan Ateş's location information to Tolgahan Demirbaş, who is identified as one of the instigators of the murder, had been separated from the main case. "Mustafa Ensar Aykal, who was granted release today, was ‘so saddened’ that he named his niece, who was born after Sinan was murdered, ‘Bengisu.’ May she live with her name, but Sinan's daughters, Banuçiçek and Bengisu, will live a lifetime without a father. Aykal should never forget this for a single moment."

Continuing her struggle for justice, Ateş added the following statements:

"They are so cruel, so heartless, so shameless that they feel no shame while trying to derive innocence from oppression. They do not blush for a moment while writing pages of slander about the father of two orphans left behind. I see those who want justice for Sinan writing ‘Are you a man?’ under the posts of these individuals. Forget about being a man, these people aren't even human. Today, the dark cabal is performing its dirty game day and night. Let them perform it. But one day, justice will close the curtain on this game. On that day, we will all see together who belongs to which organization. The screenwriter, the director, the extra, the lighting technician, and the actor should all wait for that day."
