Ayşe Ateş's claim regarding Serdar Öktem: 'He was going to tell everything, he was going to burn everyone'

MHP-affiliated lawyer Serdar Öktem, a defendant in the trial regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, lost his life as a result of an armed attack in Istanbul's Şişli district on October 6.

Öktem, who was targeted by individuals on a motorcycle while driving on Büyükdere Avenue, was shot and killed at the scene. Following the assassination, it was alleged that the attackers acted due to a conflict between two criminal organizations known as the 'Caspers' and the 'Daltons'.

It was alleged that Öktem not only provided legal support to the Caspers gang but also established connections with the organization. Furthermore, it was recalled that Öktem had recently come to the fore again because data from his phone was sent to Turkey by Apple.

'HE WAS THE WEAK LINK, HE WAS GOING TO BURN EVERYONE'

Sinan Ateş's wife, Ayşe Ateş, put forward significant claims regarding the murder of Serdar Öktem in a post on her social media account X.

Ateş stated, 'Serdar was the weak link. Everyone who knew him knew that the moment Serdar was convicted, he would burn everyone involved in Sinan's murder.'

Ateş further alleged that Öktem was preparing to talk and possessed critical information regarding the Sinan Ateş murder.

'EVIDENCE CAME FROM THE PERSON HE DEFRAUDED'

Ayşe Ateş stated that a person who reached out to her claimed to have been defrauded by Serdar Öktem and that this individual shared WhatsApp messages and audio recordings related to the Sinan Ateş murder.

Ateş used the following expressions:

“The person he was in litigation with reached out to me and conveyed that he had been defrauded by Serdar Öktem, and that he possessed WhatsApp messages regarding the Sinan Ateş murder and audio recordings of his conversations with Serdar. He even showed me a portion of the messages. For some reason, a confidentiality order was placed on that file just a few weeks later.”

“IT WAS CLAIMED HE GAVE 3 MILLION LIRA TO DOĞUKAN ÇEP”

Ateş stated that in the messages in question, Öktem expressed a desire to give 3 million TL to Doğukan Çep, who is accused of being the instigator of the Sinan Ateş murder.

In her post, she used the following expressions: “Serdar asks this person for 3 million TL to give to Doğukan Çep, saying that this way he will keep him quiet until the court case is over. He mentions Doğukan’s blackmail of ‘I will write a letter to the court’ and then says, ‘You were right about Ahmet.’ Immediately afterward, he deletes the part about Ahmet, but the person on the other end had taken screenshots of everything and submitted them to the court as evidence.”

“SERDAR WAS KILLED, HE CAN NO LONGER SPEAK”

Describing Öktem’s death as “suspicious,” Ateş emphasized that this event has deepened the shadows over the Sinan Ateş case.

"Serdar was killed. He can no longer speak. Who knows, perhaps his death will tell us what he and his phone did not," said Ateş, expressing her belief that the darkness surrounding the murder will be illuminated in the coming period.

"JUSTICE WILL FIND A WAY"

Stating that obstacles have been placed in front of justice throughout the nearly three-year trial process, Ayşe Ateş concluded her statement with these words:

"The entire country is witnessing how a murder that was solved from the very first day has been turned into a Gordian knot day by day by dark hands. However, I believe that even if they build dams or erect walls in its path, justice finds a way."

Ateş also drew attention to the testimony given by Sadık Güleç in court, recalling that before Sinan Ateş was killed, he had said, "They are looking for men to have me killed; they went to a few places, but they did not accept."
