Ayşe Ateş to the defendants: 'They sold you out, you are worth less than street dealers, reveal those responsible'

Eray Özyağcı, who pulled the trigger, Vedat Balkaya, who drove the motorcycle during the escape from the scene, and Suat Kurt, who conducted reconnaissance before the murder, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "premeditated intentional killing."

The defendants who received aggravated life sentences were Eray Özyağcı, Vedat Balkaya, Suat Kurt, Doğukan Çep, and Tolgahan Demirbaş.

"THE RUNNERS AND THE INSTIGATORS"

In her statement after the verdict, Sinan Ateş's wife, Ayşe Ateş, said that a file was created in light of the evidence collected after the murder, but that the file was divided into two categories: the "runners" and the "instigators."

Stating that "the runners were tried in this trial," Ateş argued that "the instigators of the murder are walking around freely."

"I will continue my march for justice until every single criminal is punished and put behind bars," said Ateş, who also criticized MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli without naming him directly.

Ateş said, "They shake their fingers at us from the podiums they sit on to prevent a fair trial, to trample on the law, to create an environment where criminals are superior, and to prevent criminals from being tried, and today we experienced the result of that finger-shaking and those threats."

Journalist and 12punto columnist Müyesser Yıldız, who followed the hearing, reported a striking development that occurred at the end of the session. According to the information provided by Yıldız, at the end of the hearing, Ayşe Ateş addressed defendants Tolgahan Demirbaş and Emre Yüksel by name and shouted, "They sold you out, you are worth less than street dealers. Reveal those responsible."
