Russia has proposed holding a meeting in a trilateral format in Moscow to normalize relations between Turkey and Syria. Retired Colonel Aziz Ergen explained the behind-the-scenes of the planned trilateral summit in Russia on the '12'den' program with veteran journalist Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu.
Russia has proposed holding a meeting in a trilateral format in Moscow to improve relations between Turkey and Syria.
Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, made statements to journalists in the capital, Moscow, regarding current issues.
Addressing the normalization of relations between Turkey and Syria, Bogdanov stated, "We are in favor of the process of improving relations between the two countries based on the mutual recognition of territorial integrity and sovereignty. We want this process to continue and for the leaders of the two countries to come together. We are ready to organize a meeting in Moscow in a trilateral format with the participation of officials from Damascus and Ankara."
Retired Colonel Aziz Ergen explained the behind-the-scenes of the planned trilateral summit in Russia on the '12'den' program with veteran journalist Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu.
Aziz Ergen had stated that Russian President Putin would host a bilateral meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and that the meeting would take place under Putin's control.
According to the information provided by Ergen, this critical meeting will be hosted by the Russian leader, and every stage of the process will be conducted under Putin's supervision.
The purpose of the meeting is stated to be the elimination of reactionary jihadist organizations in Syria and the establishment of cooperation between the Syrian army and the Turkish army. In this context, it is aimed to make the existing contacts between Turkish and Syrian intelligence more transparent and coordinated.
Emphasizing that the talks will be conducted openly, Ergen also stated that the structure known as the Free Syrian Army (FSA) has now completely come under the control of the United States.
Ergen said, "The FSA is no longer the FSA we knew," expressing that this structure has moved out of Turkey's control and is operating under the control of the US.
While these developments point to potential significant changes in Turkey's Syria policies, how the balances in the region will shift remains a matter of curiosity. It is stated that with Putin's intervention, jihadist organizations in the region have also begun to show reactions against Turkey.
