Aziz İhsan Aktaş: Ekrem İmamoğlu and Rıza Akpolat reported each other, corruption exploded

Aktaş spoke to journalist Nuray Başaran on the TYT channel. Aktaş made allegations regarding the IMM investigation.

Highlights from Aziz İhsan Aktaş's statements are as follows:

"There was a very serious rivalry between Ekrem İmamoğlu and Rıza Akpolat. They were in competition during the Istanbul provincial congress and district congresses; they were racing against each other. Corruption exploded as a result of them reporting each other due to their infighting and political rivalry. I do not know who the secret witnesses are or who the bribe-takers are. But during the time I worked at the municipality, and when I stopped by the municipality to collect my payments, I witnessed this in conversations. 

I believe the first operation conducted against the Beşiktaş Municipality was due to political infighting. In order for us to receive our payments, there was an issue of a vehicle belonging to the mayor's company being sold to us at a high price. This matter was reported by people within the municipality. There are those within the municipality who feel close to Mr. Ekrem and those who are close to Mr. Rıza. We were trying to stay away from the factions and trying not to take sides.

We could see they did not like each other. Rıza Akpolat was following the results of the cases in which Mr. Ekrem was being tried. He was following them through the press. While following this, he was revealing his feelings. I could see he had expectations. The teams we worked with were saying that Mr. Ekrem did not like Rıza Akpolat and that Rıza Akpolat did not like Mr. Ekrem.

I applied to benefit from the effective remorse law without any pressure. The reason I made this decision was to clarify certain processes that both my relatives and I experienced within the scope of the work I did in the business world and the public sector, and I utilized effective remorse to assist our state.

I was working to collect information and documents. We were only able to collect the information and documents by the end of April. We collected the documents in order to apply for effective remorse."
