Teacher Bahadır Grammeşin, who was murdered at the age of just 31 by gangs on May 9, 2015, while trying to prevent harassment against women, will be commemorated on the 10th anniversary of his death.

In a call issued by the Left Party (SOL Parti), the following statement was made: "We are meeting in front of our SOL Party Kadıköy District Organization on Friday, May 9, at 19.30 to commemorate Bahadır Grammeşin on the 10th anniversary of his passing. We have not forgotten, we will not forgive! Our promise to Bahadır is a People's Power!

The commemoration event, which will begin this evening in front of the SOL Party Kadıköy District Organization, will conclude with the laying of carnations and candles at the site where Grammeşin lost his life.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE CASE?

The case regarding the murder of Bahadır Grammeşin was heard twice at the Istanbul Kartal Anatolian Courthouse. In the trial at the Anatolian 11th High Criminal Court, one of his killers, Erkan Çınar, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, and other defendants were given various sentences.

The family and lawyers did not consider the sentences given to the killers sufficient. The lawyers' appeal against the sentences was not accepted by the higher court.

In the second trial, the court sentenced the defendants Erkan Çınar, Mert Nikelay, Murat Topraktepe, Yahya Burak Ataç, and Cemal Diri to life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional killing'.
