Bahattin Yücel issues warning to AKP and MIT Chief regarding Israel and maps: 'It has officially annexed it to its borders'

While the AKP government makes statements claiming we are in good relations with the new formation established in Syria, and images of MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın praying in person at the Umayyad Mosque are being circulated, it has emerged that Israel has begun publishing maps that show the Golan Heights as if they were its own territory.

Former Minister of Tourism Bahattin Yücel addressed this striking development and issued a warning in his column written for the website Yeni Arayış.

Yücel used the following expressions in his article:

"In Syria, the country with which we share our longest border, it is impossible to explain the clearing of mines—for humanitarian reasons—prior to the collapse of the Ba'ath regime as a coincidence, when looking at the developments.

With the implementation of the US-UK duo's projects regarding the redrawing of political borders in the Middle East in 1990, the de facto division of Iraq took place in the first stage. In the 34 years that have passed, the possibility of a new state being established in the region may increase as similar developments occur in Syria and subsequently, with Israel attacking Iran.

It is becoming increasingly inevitable for all opposition parties, led by the CHP, to appear before the public with a realistic program they can propose in the face of developments on our borders.  It is becoming inevitable.

While the government remains silent in the face of recent developments, the CHP should not have a single minute to spare for internal disputes.

Following reports last week that US President Trump is preparing to deport hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals who were previously permitted to live and work in the country, the potential influx of Iranian refugees should also be on Turkey's agenda. The fact that mines were cleared along our borders with this country some time ago, just as was done in Syria, should not be overlooked.

While some are intending to perform prayers of gratitude at the Umayyad Mosque, Israel has begun publishing maps that officially incorporate the Golan Heights into its borders. It would be naive to think that these developments will not affect Turkey."
