Bahçeli reacts to 'joke' investigation launched against Rahmi Koç: We do not find it right

An investigation has been launched against businessman Rahmi Koç due to a 'Kurdish woman joke' he told at the opening of the American Hospital in İzmir.

Koç Holding Honorary Chairman Rahmi Koç's 'Kurdish woman patient' joke, told at the opening of the İzmir American Hospital, had drawn reactions.

Koç had said, 'The doctor listened to the Kurdish woman's problem. When he said, "Madam, go behind the curtain and undress," the woman said, "Doctor, you undress first."'

In his statement, Bahçeli reacted to the launch of an investigation into Koç's words. 

Bahçeli said the following in his written statement:

'The Koç Group has undertaken significant responsibilities in our country's development drive for 100 years. In addition to its distinguished investments that contribute to employment, it has always acted with a responsible understanding in the goal of our Republic reaching a high level by embracing Turkey's national targets.

At a time when it is successfully and magnificently celebrating its 100th anniversary, it is wrong to launch an investigation against Mr. Rahmi Koç over a joke he made in a sincere conversation setting at a hospital opening in İzmir, which also belongs to the same group.

We do not find it right for a valuable businessperson, who has carried the desire to serve Turkey throughout his 95-year life with the family upbringing and stance he has received, to be targeted with unacceptable terms.'
