Bahçeli responds to 'right to hope for Öcalan' question! He passes the ball to the government

Yetkin said the following regarding his meeting with Bahçeli:

"After he finished his speech, I had the opportunity to speak with Bahçeli for a short time. I had enough time to ask a few questions, and I asked them as follows: Why now? Does what is happening in Syria have an effect on this? Did the fact that the SDF had to reach an agreement with the Damascus government have an effect? Bahçeli said, 'No, it does not. This is something we have been thinking about for a long time. Anatolia will not find peace otherwise.' Now, what is intended to be said here - I also spoke with some MHP sources - as far as I understand, is that the MHP has taken a pulse - its deputies are already traveling from province to province. I think he brought these issues back to the agenda based on the pulse he took there. A background to this is a search for a ground, a formula that will separate the Kurdish voters from the PKK. Therefore, he answered, 'It has nothing to do with Syria.' So I asked what the Justice and Development Party would say about this. What will the government say... Okay, Bahçeli is saying these things, but not everything Bahçeli says happens. This was also seen in the Ahmet Özer incident. What will the government say, I asked. The intention behind my asking this question was whether there is any coordination... He said, 'We have said what we had to say. What happens from here on is for the government to decide.' In other words, what I gathered from MHP officials during our conversation is that this is a demand beyond just taking a pulse... Both regarding the trustee issue and the Demirtaş issue, Bahçeli and the Nationalist Movement Party members feel that what they say is not taken very seriously, and a slight discomfort regarding this was reflected to me in their conversations."
