Bahçeli's call for 'purification': CHP is stuck in the 4 S's: Saraçhane, Söğütözü, Silivri, Social media

Stating that the steps taken regarding the ongoing process in Parliament must be accelerated, Bahçeli said, "The process for a Turkey without terrorism is a multidimensional turning point that will shape Turkey's future." 

"Turkish politics is in need of a purification process"

MHP Chairman Bahçeli made statements to TV100 Editor-in-Chief Deniz Gürel and TV100 Foreign News Manager Ahmet Yeşiltepe, saying that Turkish politics is in need of purification and calm. Bahçeli said, "There are moral values that keep society together in peace. These must be protected. Otherwise, contamination spreads. Politics is the responsible field for this. Turkish politics also needs a similar purification process. This applies to all parties. All parties need purification and calm in politics. Politics must be moved to a more transparent, more consistent, and more responsible ground."

"CHP must carry out its own purification"

Directing criticism at the main opposition, Bahçeli said that the CHP "must carry out its own purification." Bahçeli stated, "The MHP has always done what is necessary in this regard; whenever there is the slightest allegation of an incident, it pursues it and carries out the necessary purification, whoever it may be. In this regard, the main opposition is currently in great need of this. The CHP must carry out its own purification; it must purify and calm itself according to the sensitivities of society."

Touching upon the fight against the Gülen movement in his statements, Bahçeli assessed, "The fight against terrorism is multidimensional. The fight against FETÖ must be continued with determination. They have started to become active again recently. They are doing what they know best and carrying out operations against the country, institutions, and individuals. They have extensions both inside and outside. The fight against them must continue without interruption. FETÖ must be completely purged. The Republic of Turkey has this power."

"It is now time for concrete steps to be taken in Parliament"

Referring to the ongoing resolution process efforts in Parliament, Bahçeli stated that the process must be accelerated and said, "Politics has done its part here. Now it is time for concrete steps to be taken in Parliament. Whether it is the issue of sick and elderly convicts or other issues, the necessary laws must be enacted without extending the duration. If it is prolonged, internal and external structures will not remain idle against this process. There is no point in waiting. It is not possible to get anywhere with identity politics or sectarian divisions. There is no winner in this. It is essential to avoid painful statements that will increase fragility. It must be carried out with patience and common sense."

"A geopolitical line may form"

Regarding developments in the Middle East, Bahçeli said, "The attacks by the US and Israel against Iran are unjustified. Every tension experienced in our region paves the way for new fractures and new confrontations. In this equation, Syria and Lebanon may act together. This could form a new geopolitical line in the Middle East. Turkey must act with a broad-perspective security and foreign policy approach during this process."

"The process for a Turkey without terrorism is not just a security issue. It is a multidimensional turning point that will shape Turkey's future. We are obliged to look at the PKK issue from a historical perspective, not from a narrow framework. The terror problem cannot be explained only by internal dynamics. Any analysis made without seeing the influence of regional and global actors around us will remain incomplete. When this issue is resolved, there will be relief in a wide area, not only in the field of security but also from the economy to diplomacy, and from social peace to state capacity. The process must proceed with legal and democratic steps under the roof of the TBMM. The fight against terrorism is also a subject of historical and geopolitical assertion. Turkey must develop a multi-faceted intellect that balances the East and the West. This intellect and will have the power to make Turkey a pole head in the long term."
