Bandwidth throttling has ended! Access restrictions lifted
The internet access restrictions and "bandwidth throttling" measures implemented following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu have ended today. Prof. Dr. Yaman Akdeniz from the Freedom of Expression Association announced that the practice has been terminated.
Following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Istanbul Governor's Office imposed a ban on protests, demonstrations, and press statements, while internet access was also restricted.

Prof. Dr. Yaman Akdeniz from the Freedom of Expression Association stated in a post on his social media account regarding the matter, "The 'bandwidth throttling' practice targeting the entirety of Istanbul has ended. No official statement has been made."
