Banner ban in Kadıköy! 'You can't run a state with radishes and turnips' banner denied entry

As security measures were increased ahead of the May 1st rally held at Kadıköy Pier Square, a banner carried by the CHP Istanbul Provincial Youth Organization was not allowed into the area. The banner, which featured the phrase 'You can't run a state with radishes and turnips', was deemed prohibited by police teams.

A brief argument broke out between the CHP Kadıköy District Youth Branch and security forces, and CHP Kadıköy District Chair Ali Narin reacted to the situation. Narin stated, 'We are facing a sanction that does not comply with the decision to allow all banners that do not contain insults into the rally area. The ban on our youth's free and humorous banners is an indicator of the oppressive regime in our country. Our struggle will continue.'

It was learned that the police threatened the CHP youth, who insisted on the banner, with detention. The banner was not permitted to be brought into the rally area.
