Banner hung in hometown for Military Academy top graduate Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu removed

The incident at the Military Academy graduation ceremony, where young lieutenants drew their swords and chanted "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal," continues to remain on the agenda.

The oath recited by Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, who graduated first in her class, after chanting the slogan became a major topic of discussion, and subsequently, the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) launched an investigation into the lieutenants' sword oath at the Military Academy graduation ceremony.

A new, notable development has occurred regarding the incident. According to a report in Cumhuriyet, the banner hung in the town center in honor of Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, a native of Akkuş, Ordu, who graduated first in her class from the Military Academy, has been removed.

CHP Ordu Deputy Seyit Torun, who made a statement on social media regarding the issue, asked, "Who gives those who took down the banner the courage to do so?" and said the following:

"The photo of our fellow citizen from Akkuş, Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, who graduated first in her class from the Military Academy this year, was hung on İstiklal Street in Akkuş with the phrase 'The Pride of Our Akkuş,' and it made us all proud. Today, we saw that the banner is gone!

Who gives the courage to those who ordered the removal of the photo of our Lieutenant Ebru, a soldier of Mustafa Kemal, or to those who took it down by being more royalist than the king, whether ordered or not? Are you not ashamed to disrespect our 'Prophet's Hearth' (the military)?

These children are not raised easily. While we should be overjoyed that we produced a female Military Academy top graduate, you are betraying our hometown and our women...."
