HE IS NOT STEPPING DOWN FROM HIS POST
According to a report in the Cumhuriyet newspaper, Turgay Şahin was appointed as the AKP Provincial Chair without relinquishing his duties as bar association president. It is stated that Şahin intends to continue his role as bar association president until the bar elections to be held in October.
Turgay Şahin indicated that he is officially continuing both roles by using the titles “AK Party Afyonkarahisar Provincial Chair – Afyonkarahisar Bar Association President” together on his social media accounts.
A SIMILAR SITUATION OCCURRED IN KAHRAMANMARAŞ
This development recalls a similar situation that previously took place in Kahramanmaraş.
Kahramanmaraş Bar Association President M. Burak Gül had also become the AKP Kahramanmaraş Provincial Chair without stepping down from his position as bar association president.
