Barış Yarkadaş reacts to 'Elected Chairman' phrase: 'It has no basis in law'

As the absolute nullity crisis continues within the CHP, all eyes have turned to today's parliamentary group meeting.

It was announced that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the CHP chairmanship by a court decision, will deliver a speech at the group meeting today at 13:30.

Elected Chairman Özgür Özel, in a statement he made yesterday, announced that he would take the podium at the group meeting, saying, "They heard that I was going to Manisa, so they decided to hold a group meeting. They used the anniversary of Ferdi Zeyrek's death as an opportunity! I will hold the group meeting tomorrow. I will commemorate Ferdi Zeyrek at the podium. I invite our party members to tomorrow's group meeting."

While there is great curiosity about what will happen in the Turkish Grand National Assembly today, Barış Yarkadaş, one of the figures close to Kılıçdaroğlu, made statements during a live broadcast on Tv100.

Reacting to the "Elected chairman" phrase in the group meeting announcement shared by the Özgür Özel camp, Yarkadaş said, "Özgür Özel is not the elected chairman of the CHP. If Özgür Özel is the chairman of the party, let him give an instruction to the party treasurer to buy 1 kilo of tea and 1 kilo of sugar from the party treasury, and I will retract everything I have said. The court has annulled the convention where Özgür Özel was elected. Therefore, Özgür Özel's use of the phrase 'Elected Chairman' has no basis in law. The elected chairman is Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu."
