Bartholomeos met with Trump during his US visit: He practically complained about Turkey in his remarks

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with US President Donald Trump during his recent overseas visits. As noted by journalist and 12punto columnist Müyesser Yıldız in her September 14 column, striking remarks were made during the meeting between Bartholomew and Trump. The Ecumenical Patriarch's words, 'We discussed the few Christians remaining in Turkey, the difficulties, and the persecutions,' were interpreted as a complaint against Turkey.

Bartholomeos met with Trump during his US visit: He practically complained about Turkey in his remarks

Zafer Party Spokesperson Azmi Karamahmutoğlu shared a photo taken during Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew's meeting with Trump on his social media account and highlighted the remarkable statements Bartholomew made regarding this meeting.

Karamahmutoğlu made the following post:

If the secular legal system and the Treaty of Lausanne are breached, those who will be the first to enter through "that hole" are showing their heads.

“We discussed issues that concern us, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the few Christians remaining in Turkey, the difficulties, and the persecutions.”

-Bartholomew-

Regarding these things you discussed with Trump;

Without any contact at the government or governor level, you should be urgently requested to provide a written defense within a given period via a written notification by the District Governor of Fatih, citing the provisions of the Treaty of Lausanne, and your position should be reminded to you on behalf of our state mechanism.

The written defense you provide should be evaluated, and appropriate disciplinary action should be taken.

Furthermore, the Istanbul Defterdarlığı (Provincial Tax Office) units should initiate proceedings regarding financial auditing.

Our suggestions are matters that should be routinely applied in the face of habitual indiscipline.

MÜYESSER YILDIZ HAD ALSO POINTED OUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE TRUMP AND BARTHOLOMEW MEETING

Journalist and 12punto columnist Müyesser Yıldız had also highlighted the remarkable parts of the meeting in her September 14 column.

Here are those statements from Yıldız's column:

Let us provide two new pieces of news from the Fener Greek Patriarchate, which has been "internationalized" thanks to Ankara's "openings," even though it is entirely our internal affair according to the Treaty of Lausanne.

While Erdoğan was reciting Necip Fazıl Kısakürek's poem "My Dear Istanbul" at an event in Istanbul the other day, saying, "Istanbul is the common value of the Turkish-Islamic geography together with our 86 million citizens... As long as this soul is in this body, our love for Istanbul will not end... From Gaza to Syria, from Somalia to Sudan, from the Caucasus to the Balkans, wherever there is one, we are trying to do justice to being an Istanbulite. Because we learned the struggle here... Thank God, we have not cast a shadow on the sacred memory and trust of Istanbul until today. Hopefully, we will continue to protect this trust as it deserves from now on.";

Fener Greek Patriarch Bartholomew, who declared himself first "Ecumenical" and then "Archbishop of Constantinople-New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch," was in Riga as the "official guest" of Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics.

The Latvian Presidency used the title "Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople" in its post regarding the Rinkevics-Bartholomew meeting.

From "Constantinople" to the White House

Patriarch Bartholomew has another program. He is going to the US today for an "official visit." He will stay there until September 25. Let us share a few details from his program.

Departing from the Istanbul Airport in "Constantinople," he will land at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. He will be welcomed here by the US Chief of Protocol, diplomats, and state officials.

While Erdoğan waits for an invitation, Bartholomew's first order of business tomorrow will be to meet with Trump at the White House.

On Tuesday, he will be hosted at breakfast by our US Ambassador Sedat Önal.

His program on September 19 is interesting; he will speak at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), known as the "deep state" of the US. At the end of his trip, he will fly to Greece.
