Barzani's visit to Şırnak sparks crisis in AKP! Calls for that official's dismissal

It has been alleged that images of Mesud Barzani's bodyguards in military uniforms carrying long-barreled weapons while he attended the 4th International Melaye Ciziri Symposium in Şırnak have caused intense discomfort and debate within the AKP.

Nefes columnist Nuray Babacan, in her article titled 'The Governor should be dismissed', claimed that there are those within the party demanding the dismissal of the governor who turned a blind eye to this situation, and that some figures have interpreted the events as a provocation.

“DEBATE ON BARZANI, ÖCALAN, AND DEMİRTAŞ HAS BEGUN”

Babacan reported that following this development, a new debate has emerged on the agenda within the AKP regarding the "value and standing" of Mesut Barzani, terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Selahattin Demirtaş among the Kurds:

“This debate has provided insight into the importance and standing of the Barzani family both within the party and among the Kurds. There are even those among the Kurds who say that Mesut Barzani is a figure valued more than Abdullah Öcalan.

There are those who claim that the Barzani family has a deep-rooted, traditional structure that stays away from terrorism, and that they hold a respected place among Kurds due to their struggles dating back years and their constructive approaches.

Those who go even further explain that this is not just among the Kurds in the region, but that a similar division is being experienced within the DEM Party, and that comparisons are being made not only between Barzani but also between Öcalan and Demirtaş.”

“THE LEADER OF THE NEW ERA IS SELAHATTİN DEMİRTAŞ”

According to another claim relayed by Babacan based on behind-the-scenes discussions, some DEM Party members argue that replacing actors who have been involved in the struggle for years with new names during the resolution process has weakened efforts, and that for this reason, the messages of terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan have been conveyed incompletely.

“DEM PARTY BASE IS UNCOMFORTABLE”

Furthermore, it is stated that there are those who are uncomfortable with the fact that the release of former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş from prison was not treated as a priority demand during the process. It is reported that Kurds see Selahattin Demirtaş, not Öcalan, as the leader of the new era, and that this situation is causing unrest within the party base.

It is even alleged that there are those within the DEM Party who use the term "forced leader" when referring to Öcalan. According to Babacan's claim, "all of this cannot be spoken about openly because they act like an organization rather than a party."
