A march was organized by the Palestine Support Platform under the slogan "Be a Light of Hope for Gaza" to draw attention to Israel's attacks and blockade in Gaza. The march was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Science Dissemination Society (İlim Yayma Cemiyeti) Bilal Erdoğan, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and thousands of citizens. Gathering at Beyazıt Square after the evening prayer, the crowd marched to the Hagia Sophia Mosque carrying Palestinian flags and banners reading "Be Hope for Gaza."

During the program attended by citizens gathered at the Hagia Sophia Mosque, the Quran was recited and slogans were chanted for Palestine. Speaking at the program, Palestine Support Platform President Mehmet Güney said, "May this march be a hope for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. May this hope strengthen the faith of the mujahideen and be a source of fear for the disgrace in Tel Aviv. May August 9 be a milestone, God willing. Humanity has witnessed an oppression in Gaza and Palestine that it has never seen before. To date, 62 thousand of our martyrs have been identified under the ground. We will never forget or forgive the Zionist gangs that deemed this worthy of Gaza."
President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş prayed for Gaza as part of the program.

İsmet Sandıkçı, who participated in the march to support Palestine, said, "We came as a family to show that we are also in the resistance, that we are here to support our brothers and sisters there, the oppressed Palestinian people, and to be a hope for Gaza. This is what we can do. Hopefully, the end of Zionism and Israel will come. We want this with our most sincere wishes, with God's permission."
A citizen named Savaş Ceyhan stated, "Muslims must also support their Muslim brothers and sisters. We need to collapse Israel financially by not buying Israeli goods and by boycotting them."
