Beggar caught by municipal police: 'They shouldn't run, they catch us and then just let us go anyway'

Elazığ Municipality Municipal Police Department teams carried out operations targeting beggars. Within the scope of the efforts, beggars who preferred areas such as shopping malls, mosques, hospital entrances, and regions with high pedestrian traffic were caught one by one.

R.K., who was caught selling tissues on the stairs of an overpass, said while chatting with the officers in the patrol vehicle that this was the first time he had been caught.

Emphasizing that one officer in particular ran very fast, the individual said, "They shouldn't run, they catch us and then just let us go anyway."

R.K. stated, "Brother, I've been sitting and begging for years, no one has been able to catch me. I sat down by chance and you guys showed up. I know who is a municipal officer and who isn't; I saw the brother who runs after people 4 times. I didn't run because of him, this is the first time I've been caught. How he ran to catch that lady. If I had run, he would have caught me immediately too. I'm fasting, I would have run out of breath. They shouldn't run, they catch us and then just let us go anyway."
