Behind the scenes of the corruption case leading to İmamoğlu's arrest

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained in a dawn operation on March 19 and arrested on March 23 on charges of corruption, stated that the accusations directed at him are completely baseless and fabricated.

Emphasizing that the allegations in question are based solely on the testimony of a secret witness, İmamoğlu stated that no concrete evidence has been presented.

According to the report in Sözcü, the 6 tenders cited as justification in the file are as follows:

1- In 2011 (during the AKP era), the tender for 4,600 billboards leased for 10 years from Kültür A.Ş. was renewed. The company that won the tender increased the size of the billboards and obtained unfair profit.

2- A company that leased 3,000 billboards in 2011 (during the AKP era) took them again 10 years later. They combined the billboards to create giant boards. They generated excess revenue. The municipality did not receive a share.

3- The company that leased the advertising billboard area on 100 overpasses hung 150 boards instead of the 72 it was supposed to hang according to discounts. By not preventing this, the municipality caused public loss.

95 overpasses where more than one board could be hung were also leased to the same company.

4- It opened space for 172 boards. Public loss occurred, and unfair benefit was obtained.

5- The company that leased the billboards in İSPARK parking lots hung 6 advertising rotating-type boards inside instead of billboards. They earned a lot and did not make additional payments to the municipality.

6- The company that leased 2,000 rotating-type and 400 megalight-type (visible to those passing by in vehicles on the roadside) advertising boards used them unlawfully. The municipality turned a blind eye.
