Behind the scenes of the GAİN Medya operation... Who actually owns GAİN Medya? Illegal betting connection

This morning, as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Gendarmerie teams carried out an operation on companies affiliated with Anahat Holding, primarily GAİN Medya.

It was reported that the ongoing investigation covers charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "illegal betting," and "money laundering." Berkin Kaya, Barbaros Reşat Gülcan, and Selahattin Aydın, who hold executive positions at the holding and its companies, were detained as part of the investigation.

SEARCHES CONDUCTED AT COMPANIES

It was learned that Gendarmerie teams conducted searches at the addresses of Anahat Holding and its affiliated companies within the scope of the operation. It was stated that the investigation is being pursued in a multi-faceted manner.

TMSF TRUSTEES APPOINTED TO 7 COMPANIES

In a statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was announced that the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has been appointed as a trustee within the scope of the investigation. The statement noted that findings indicated the companies' capital increases were inconsistent with ordinary economic activities.

GAİN Medya'S OWNERSHIP PROCESS

On the other hand, GAİN Medya's past ownership structure has also returned to the agenda with the investigation. Gözde Akpınar, the founder of GAİN Medya, had shared with the public in a statement made in April 2023 that an agreement had been reached for all shares of the platform to be purchased by RAMS Türkiye.

Subsequently, according to records in the December 13, 2024, issue number 11128 of the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette, information regarding RAMS Group's transfer of GAİN Medya to Berkin Kaya was reflected in the registry records.

In the section included in journalist Murat Ağırel's book 'Kirli Çark', allegations were presented regarding Berkin Kaya's involvement in activities linked to illegal betting sites called Marsbahis. The book contained accounts suggesting that income derived from illegal betting activities was being transferred to various other sectors.

These allegations have been brought back to the public agenda with the operation carried out this morning targeting GAİN Medya and Anahat Holding.

Journalist Murat Ağırel included the following statements in the relevant section of his book 'Kirli Çark': 

It was recently purchased by RAMS Group with a significant investment. GAİN founder Gözde Akpınar stated that they had shaken hands for the purchase of all GAİN shares by Rams Turkey

in April 2023.

Now we are learning that RAMS Group has sold GAİN Medya to Berkin Kaya.
