Cumhuriyet columnist Barış Terkoğlu stated that Supreme Court of Appeals Prosecutor Necip Cem İşçimen, who was attacked in Kadıköy, Istanbul, had sought to take the testimony of then-Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar and then-MIT Undersecretary Hakan Fidan during the investigations into the July 15 coup attempt. In his article titled "The hidden story of the name who was attacked," Barış Terkoğlu provided the following information regarding Supreme Court of Appeals Prosecutor Necip Cem İşçimen, who was attacked in Kadıköy, Istanbul:

"After working as an expert at the Ombudsman Institution for eight months, he was appointed to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in March 2015. He served there as the deputy chief public prosecutor responsible for the constitutional order. He conducted important investigations such as the Ankara Train Station, Merasim Street, and Kızılay attacks, as well as the KPSS, TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB, July 15, Karlov assassination, and Necip Hablemitoğlu assassination cases.

He also managed the investigation into the sale of production plans for the National Infantry Rifle MPT-76, as well as the Cosmic Room and MHP-Baykal tape conspiracy investigations.

The turning point of his professional life was the July 15 coup attempt. He opened 69 separate FETÖ cases and identified the members of the Peace at Home Council by name. However, the indictments he wrote and the suspects he wanted to reach in the investigations were bothering some people. So much so that, even though he gave the instruction 'Let's detain whoever we find at the Akıncı Air Base,' Adil Öksüz was surrendered to a different courthouse, not to him. When he also resisted efforts to hand over some properties belonging to Hacettepe University to TÜRGEV as part of the Technopark investigation, he was put on a 'blacklist'."

Sharing behind-the-scenes information about the events Prosecutor İşçimen experienced during the FETÖ investigation process, Terkoğlu wrote:

"He wanted to detain the then-Governor of Ankara, Mehmet Kılıçlar, who was the General Director of Security during the period of FETÖ conspiracies. However, he was prevented.

But the real breaking point came when he wanted to take the testimony of two names regarding July 15: Hulusi Akar and Hakan Fidan.
