Bekir Aslan, known as 'Basel' on social media, arrested: 'Absurd and baseless allegations'
"Basel," who had been detained three times since the Saraçhane protests, has been arrested. Bekir Aslan, known by the name 'Basel' on social media, explained the reason for his arrest in a message sent through his lawyer.
Bekir Aslan, a social media user known as "Basel" who had previously been detained three times—including during the Saraçhane protests, boycott calls, and most recently at a TİP meeting in Gülhane—was taken into custody after sharing a photo on Twitter of a banner reading "Dev GenZ," which was opened at a student gathering in Kadıköy with a reference to Generation Z.
"Basel," who was referred to the judgeship following his prosecutor's statement at the Çağlayan Courthouse, has been arrested.
Following the arrest decision, "Basel" wrote the following in a message sent through his lawyer:

"I have been arrested on such absurd and baseless allegations... I have been arrested for sharing the DEV-GENZ banner on Twitter and for retweeting a Grup Yorum song.
During the interrogation, ridiculous questions were asked, such as how I made contact with DEV-GENZ and what my position in the organization was.
My connection to the DHKP-C was questioned because I retweeted a Grup Yorum song.
As you can see, those who want to arrest you bring the pretext along with them.
But they don't know that we left fear behind at the barricade that our university student friends in Istanbul tore down on March 19. Stay with hope and love. When I get out, I will make menemen for all of you."
