Berhan Şimşek denies reports of application to cancel party convention
Berhan Şimşek, who was alleged to have applied to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) for the cancellation of the CHP's extraordinary convention on April 6, has denied the claims. The former MP stated that he had made no such application, saying, "Do not pay attention to trolls disguised as journalists who spread fake news."
Following the 21st Extraordinary Convention held by the CHP on April 6, a striking claim circulating in party circles sparked public debate. It was alleged that former CHP MP Berhan Şimşek, who could not become a candidate at the convention because he failed to reach the required number of signatures for the chairmanship, had applied to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) for the cancellation of the convention.
However, the claims were quickly denied by Şimşek himself. Releasing a statement on his social media account, Berhan Şimşek stated that the reports did not reflect the truth.
"I HAVE NOT MADE ANY APPLICATION"
In his post, Şimşek used the following expressions:
"The reports appearing on some television channels and social media platforms regarding the 21st Extraordinary Convention, where I was also a candidate for chairman, are baseless. I have not made any application to the YSK for the cancellation of the convention. I request that you do not pay attention to trolls disguised as journalists who spread fake news on this matter."
