Berlin State Economy Minister Giffey attacked in Germany
In Germany, Berlin State Economy Minister Franziska Giffey was attacked by an unidentified individual. It was announced that Giffey sustained minor injuries.
Yesterday, at a library on Alt-Rudow Street in the Rudow district of Germany, an individual struck Social Democratic Party (SPD) Minister Giffey on the head and neck with a bag containing a hard object.
While the attacker fled the scene, Giffey received outpatient treatment at a hospital for head and neck pain.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
Berlin Governing Mayor Kai Wegner stated that he condemned the attacks on Giffey and other politicians, saying, "Anyone who attacks politicians is attacking our democracy."
Expressing that the attack on Giffey is unacceptable, Wegner said, "We will oppose all forms of violence, hatred, and incitement, and we will protect our democracy."
On May 3 in Germany, SPD Member of the European Parliament (EP) Matthias Ecke was also seriously injured in an attack by a far-right extremist in the city of Dresden, Saxony.
