Beşir Atalay breaks silence after his name is removed from university
Beşir Atalay, who resigned from the AKP in 2019, has broken his silence regarding the removal of his name from the campus of Kırıkkale University, an institution he founded.
The administration of Kırıkkale University has removed Beşir Atalay’s name from the university campus and replaced it with the name Martyrs' Campus (Şehitler Kampüsü).
Beşir Atalay spoke for the first time regarding the removal of his name from the university he founded.
According to a report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, Atalay stated that his name was given to the campus in 2017 without his knowledge. He also responded to claims that Rector Ersan Aslan, who approved the removal of his name from the campus, was his former student, saying, “During the time I was rector at the university, he was a lecturer at the vocational school.”

"WE ARE TRYING TO LIVE QUIETLY IN OUR OWN CORNER"
Emphasizing that he had no request for his name to be given to the campus, Atalay stated, “I had no request regarding this matter; friends gave it, and I learned about it much later. Now, there is nothing to be said. Let everyone do what they want. I am not someone who is out and about or talks too much. We are trying to live quietly in our own corner.”
"I HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO ANYONE, AND I HAVE NO INTENTION TO"
Stating that he has not contacted anyone from the AKP or the Presidency regarding the removal of his name from the campus, Atalay added:
“I have not spoken to anyone, I have not called anyone, and I have no intention to. I am not someone who makes many statements to the press either.”
Atalay resigned from the AKP in 2019.
