Beylikdüzü Mayor Çalık taken for emergency tomography
The health condition of Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested as part of an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and transferred from Silivri to İzmir Buca Prison, remains serious.
Çalık, who has previously undergone cancer treatment twice, filed a request for release last week on the grounds that prison conditions posed a life-threatening risk, after which he was taken to İzmir Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital for examinations.
Regarding Murat Çalık's health condition, his wife Zehra Evin Çalık had stated, "His examinations are ongoing; if his cancer recurs, he may not be able to handle it at this age."
After his pain returned, Çalık was transferred to the hospital again on Monday, and tests revealed a mass in his neck.
Murat Çalık has been taken for emergency tomography.
