Beyoğlu Municipality signs removed at night: 'A dark day for democracy'

Beyoğlu Municipality has been evicted from the building in Kasımpaşa, known as the Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa Barracks, which it shared with the Beyoğlu District Governorate.

It was reported that the municipal offices were cleared and staff were not permitted to enter the building.

SIGNS REMOVED

The sign reading 'Beyoğlu Municipality' was removed from the building used by the municipality.

Speaking to Halk TV, İnan Güney said, "What we are experiencing today is a dark day for the history of democracy in Beyoğlu.

Politics competes with politics, but if a politician competes with a bureaucrat, then they find the public against them. I say that the public is superior to the appointed.

I say that those who come through democracy are superior to the appointed.

AK Party supporters, CHP supporters, and MHP supporters who watch these images have condemned those who signed off on this decision in their conscience.

I will be touring Kasımpaşa again tomorrow. I will be with my neighbors. Our cameras also show that our citizens condemn these images," he stated.
